Primary Purpose
The Marketing and Communications Associate facilitates donor acknowledgment, direct mail, coordinates special events, and supports the functions of Development & Public Relations by providing administrative support.
Description Of Duties & Tasks
Under the direct supervision of the Chief Development and Public Relations Officer, the Marketing and Communications Associate is responsible for donor database management, gift processing and acknowledgment, coordination and marketing support of special events.
Essential Functions
Development and Implementation of Campaigns and Events (50%)
- Support fundraising efforts, agency, and donor cultivation events, including marketing campaigns, direct mailings, mailing lists, registrations, materials, and events.
- Lead events coordination and is the primary contact for community events, annual events, donor events, and other fundraising initiatives as needed.
- Coordinate staffing and prepare materials for outreach events, which may include evenings or weekends. Attend events as needed.
- Works closely with agency marketing consultant as required to inform events and campaign marketing efforts.
- Supporting and improving overall development initiatives.
Donor Relations (30%)
- Serve as agency lead for Little Green Light (LGL) donor database, including list generation, analysis and reporting, queries and tracking revenue and goals, and regular clean-up of the database of duplicate records. (20%)
- Maintain integrity of information in the donor database through cross-referencing, data checking, and research. Update constituent records including coordinating change of address and contact information updates.
- Generate and update thank-you letters quickly as established by the organization’s standards. Enter constituents and generate acknowledgment letters.
- Conduct ongoing research on prospects, including individuals, businesses, and corporations, as potential sources for support.
Other (20%)
- Assist in maintenance of marketing materials, social media outlets, and website.
- Participation and support in agency program meetings and on committees as deemed necessary by Chief Development and Public Relations Officer.
- Other tasks, duties, and responsibilities deemed necessary to enhance the functioning of Lakes Region Mental Health Center as assigned by the Chief Development and Public Relations Officer.
- Attendance is an essential function of this position.

Qualifications
Education: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in English, communications, business, social work, or a related field preferred.
Experience: One to three years of nonprofit development experience and donor management software preferred. Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office and database programs. Experience with fundraising software preferred. Working knowledge of social media sites and WordPress preferred. Willing to train the right candidate.
Understanding of mental illness and its impact on individuals and families.
Work Schedule
This a full time, 40 hour per week position with flexible hours. On occasion, evening or weekend hours for events and meetings will be required.
Salary
This is a full-time position with an hourly compensation of $21/hour.
