Location: Plymouth, MA
Position Summary: Ski Instructors are essential to ski mountain staff as they teach newcomers how to get adjusted and comfortable on their skis/snowboards for their very first time. A good ski instructor makes for an unforgettable first-time experience and provides new guests with skills that they can carry with them for the future of their skiing. We are currently seeking a certified ski instructor who has a passion for teaching others and the ability to work well with people who are new to skiing. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Instruction:
- Provide ski lessons to individuals or groups, catering mainly to entry-level skiers
- Teach proper ski techniques, including stance, etiquette, balance, turning, stopping, and other essential skills.
- Adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse learning styles and needs of students.
- Safety:
- Emphasize and enforce safety guidelines and rules on the slopes.
- Monitor students closely to ensure a safe ski experience and intervene when necessary to prevent accidents.
- Assessment:
- Evaluate the abilities of students through observation and feedback.
- Provide constructive feedback and assist when necessary to help students improve their skills.
- Lesson Planning:
- Develop lesson plans that align with the skill levels and goals of the students.
- Incorporate a variety of teaching methods and drills to keep lessons engaging, effective, and fun.
- Equipment Knowledge:
- Assist students in selecting appropriate ski equipment and ensure that it is properly fitted.
- Provide guidance on equipment usage, maintenance, and safety.
- Customer Service:
- Interact with students in a friendly and professional manner.
- Address inquiries, concerns, and feedback from students and their families.
- Effectively communicate ski concepts and instructions to students.
- Collaborate with other instructors and staff to ensure a coordinated and positive learning environment.
Minimum Requirements:
- Possess relevant certifications and qualifications from recognized organizations.
- Strong ski skills and a passion for sport.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- First aid and CPR certification may be required.
- Ability to ski proficiently in various conditions and terrains.
- Ability to work well with people and have patience to deal with newcomers
- Stamina and physical fitness to spend extended periods outdoors in varying weather conditions.
