Job Summary:
The Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for site work projects using HeavyBid and Agtek software. This individual will collaborate closely with department heads to identify, develop, and execute bid proposals aimed at securing work opportunities. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical skills, a keen eye for detail, and comprehensive knowledge of Excavation, Construction practices, and bid preparation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Bid Preparation and Submission:
- Utilize HeavyBid software to develop detailed cost estimates for site work projects.
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and contract documents to determine scope, requirements, and potential risks.
- Prepare and submit competitive bid proposals in collaboration with the Department Heads.
- Collaboration with Department Heads:
- Work closely with the department heads to identify and prioritize bid opportunities.
- Strategize on approaches to secure contracts and ensure profitability.
- Communicate regularly on project status, bid performance, and opportunities for improvement.
- Cost Estimation and Analysis:
- Accurately estimate material, labor, and equipment costs for projects.
- Review historical data and market trends to ensure competitive and accurate pricing.
- Conduct cost analysis to optimize profitability and resource allocation.
- Vendor and Subcontractor Coordination:
- Solicit quotes from suppliers and subcontractors to support accurate bid preparation.
- Evaluate vendor proposals to ensure compliance with project specifications and budget constraints.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain organized records of estimates, proposals, and project documentation.
- Generate detailed reports on bid outcomes, including success rates and areas for improvement.
- Industry Knowledge and Best Practices:
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices in site work construction.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and legal standards in bid preparation and execution.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience considered.
- Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in site work estimating or construction project management.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in HeavyBid software is required.
- Strong knowledge of construction cost estimating principles and processes.
- Familiarity with site work practices, equipment, and materials.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to travel to project sites as needed.
- Capability to work in an office and field environment, occasionally requiring extended hours.
Work Conditions:
- Office environment with some field visits as required.
- Regular interaction with team members, vendors, and project stakeholders.
