Role Overview
As the Vice President of Business Development for North America, you will play a pivotal role in driving strategic growth for Galvion. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in business development, sales, and leadership within the global defense sector, with a proven track record of leading teams and driving results. You will oversee the development and implementation of strategies that achieve revenue and profit targets, while collaborating with various departments to optimize processes and improve outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
People Leadership:
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and guidance to the Business Development and Sales teams.
- Oversee partner strategy for each customer channel, ensuring the implementation of programs to maximize revenue and margin goals.
- Collaborate with Functional Leadership (Engineering, Operations) and Line of Business Owners to finalize pricing and product strategy.
- Partner with Marketing and Product teams to develop campaigns and materials that drive profitability and build the Galvion brand.
Performance Management
- Develop and execute a comprehensive North America Business Development strategy to achieve revenue and profit goals for Galvion.
- Explore and capitalize on areas of organic growth within the North American market.
- Refine the bid process, in collaboration with the PMO office, to provide greater visibility of costs throughout the lifecycle of each program.
- Enable the team to continuously identify and create new business opportunities that lead to revenue generation.
Market Strategy
- Manage key domestic accounts and execute Galvion’s channel management strategy.
- Identify and pursue relevant R&D initiatives and partnerships to differentiate Galvion and achieve profit targets.
- Maintain a comprehensive database of market trends, competitors, and products to inform decision-making.
- Collaborate with Sales Operations, Finance, and Business Units to forecast annual and quarterly revenue targets.
Travel & Environment
- Office-based environment with significant travel (up to 75%) to meet with customers, attend meetings, and participate in tradeshows.
- Occasional travel to Galvion facilities may be required.
Required Qualifications
- 15+ years of experience in business development and sales, with a proven record of success in driving growth and leading teams.
- 10+ years of experience in the armor industry (preferred but not mandatory).
- Experience in a leadership role, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in strategic planning, negotiation, and time management.
- High attention to detail and strong business acumen.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and market trends.
- Demonstrated understanding of military markets and customer needs.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Comparable military service or experience in the defense sector.
- Experience with project management principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and other relevant software.
