Position Summary
The Program Manager possesses leadership skills and has responsibility for the company's planning and performance of major business programs. The Program Manager is responsible for the cost, schedule, quality, customer satisfaction and for using successful relationship building to drive future growth. The Program Manager understands the customer's perspective, proactively responds to the customer, and gains customer trust by continually meeting commitments. This person helps to develop and communicate succinct competitive analysis during proposal and quoting activities. Programs are based on established technologies that require the application of critical thinking and advanced principals/concepts.
Essential Functions And Responsibilities
- Develops prioritized plans within the assigned team and executes the program to the developed plan. Holds self and colleagues accountable for high performance standards and leads the team to effectively manage changing priorities
- Acts as principal point of contact with senior management to assure management understanding of program status, fosters resolution of problems, and coordinates efforts among management as necessary to assure corrective action
- Builds, develops, and maintains close customer relationships, proactively addresses customer needs, and continually pursues open communications to strategically expand the business. Understands the detailed needs of the customer.
- Establishes and monitors adherence to master program plans and schedules, preparing and issuing operational and program directives and controlling product configuration
- Leads high level technical discussions, both internally and externally, to ensure all technical requirements are met
- Defines and directs the performance of program functional task elements such as procurement, manufacturing, quality, configuration, administrative functions, contracts administration, and facilities
- Prepares forecasts of new business, sales, and gross profit for annual operating plans for assigned programs and statuses those plans at regular intervals
- Ability to travel for customer visits and trade shows 10%-15% of the time
- Moderate understanding of industry trends and our customers and competitor's strategies, strengths, and weaknesses
- Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for creating a professional, safe, and clean environment evidenced by: being at work on time to perform assigned duties, following the policies of Granite State Manufacturing, always wearing safety glasses in designated areas, maintaining a neat and orderly work area, and following safety practices to prevent errors
- Demonstrates commitment to teamwork by establishing effective relationships and networks with both managers/directors and workers with collaboration to accomplish shared purposes and goals
- Abides by GSM Code of Ethics and Business Conduct standards and strictly observes all U.S. and foreign laws and regulations
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Bachelor's Degree and 3-5 years of experience managing complex manufacturing programs, or equivalent work experience and education. Engineering degree, a plus
- Working knowledge of MS Office and Windows based computer programs; Experience with MS Project preferred.
- ERP/MRP based company-wide systems experience desired with M1 (ECI) familiarity a strong plus
- Experience working in a vertically integrated manufacturing and assembly environment with familiarity in Electro-Mechanical Assembly.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment that requires a high degree of initiative, adaptability, and closure orientation
- Maintain a safe work environment and ensure compliance with safety and security objectives and policies
- Experience with Department of Defense Program Management desired with Navy experience preferred
- Working knowledge of the defense acquisition process and an understanding of Defense Acquisition Regulations (DFAR)
- Ability to apply learned logic to problems using objectivity and data to develop solutions to ambiguous problems.
- A personal and professional background sufficient to secure a Government Security Clearance is required
