Overview
The Golf Club of New England, a private, non-equity membership club situated on the New Hampshire Seacoast in Stratham, NH, is seeking a dynamic golf merchandiser to join and contribute to the team. GCNE, established in 2003, is a modern Arnold Palmer design unique to New England. A wonderful championship 18 hole layout has hosted several championships, including the 2012 U.S. Junior Amateur Championship, the New Hampshire Men’s and Women’s Amateur Championships as well as the 2014 New England PGA Section Championship. The club is dedicated to providing unparalleled service and unique experiences for its 200 members, their families, and guests.
The Golf Merchandiser plays a vital role in supporting the Head Golf Professional by assisting with the day-to-day operations of the golf facility. This position involves greeting members and guests as they arrive for their tee times, ensuring a seamless check-in process, and managing tee times and POS systems. In addition to maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the golf shop, the Golf Merchandiser also helps to oversee inventory management, all while delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring member and guest satisfaction.
Experience Required
Prior experience in customer service and retail is preferred.
Essential Responsibilities
- Provide knowledgeable answers to members and guests about club services.
- Assist with daily golf shop operations, including golfer check-in and tee sheet management.
- Promote sales within the golf shop and build strong customer relationships to drive business.
- Plan, merchandise, and market special events and sales, ensuring they are well-executed and engaging for customers.
- Coordinate golf equipment demo days with a variety of vendors to showcase new products.
- Develop and maintain visually appealing shop displays to enhance the shopping experience.
- Oversee the receiving process and check-in of all new merchandise.
- Processes all paperwork and coding of invoices.
- Manage inventory and provide detailed monthly inventory reports to track product levels.
- Monitor and facilitate special orders and returns, ensuring a smooth process for members and guests.
- Assist customers with selecting merchandise and provide excellent customer service at the sales counter.
- Work alongside the Head Golf Professional to curate and purchase products for the golf shop and tournaments.
- Attends staff meetings.
- Represent the club at local and national merchandise shows to stay updated on industry trends.
- Forecast product trends and identify new merchandise opportunities to enhance the shop's offerings.
- Conduct oneself in a professional manner and maintain a professional image at all times.
- Complete additional tasks as requested by the Head Golf Professional.
